Q.1.     What – if anything – can a brand of soup do to get you to pay more for XYZ brand than another brand?

Nothing: won’t buy it                   6

In-store samples                        3

Packaging                                  2

Low sodium                               1

Accurate photo of soup             1

Better taste                                1

Well, if it ever gets too expensive I'll just have to do without, but the quality and the taste of the soup makes my pay more for one brand than another. If it doesn't taste good, then you feel like you wasted your money.

There is nothing. If the price went up too much, I'd just quit buying it.

I have been known to purchase higher-priced items if someone in the store is giving out samples.

If I had a free sample and liked the taste of the soup, I would pay more for it.

If the packaging looks good I will pay more. I think the packaging tells a lot about a brand of soup. If the soup is good they will show it on their packaging I think. When they show what’s in the soup, it shows they’re proud of their soup and that makes me want to buy it even more.
